- A contemporary approach to the child with special needs
- Medical comorbidities and their dental implication
- Specific dental anomalies associated with medical conditions
- Deciding when and where to treat
Approximately 14% of our child population lives with a disability or medical comorbidity that affects normal function and life. While some children require management in a hospital setting, long-term care should be coordinated in general or specialist practice within the community. Some children will have a medical condition with a corresponding dental anomaly. Others have a medical condition that complicates simple dental treatment. Naturally, management should focus primarily on prevention and a sound understanding on the medical condition.
