– Сontrol prosthetic case complications by employing the T-Scan with full arch implant prostheses, mixed arches where teeth and implant prostheses reside together, and snap-on removable implant prostheses
– Use of digital occlusal analysis to detect damaging high force and time premature occlusal contacts, that cause post insertion implant component breakage, patient occlusal pain, and restorative material instability
– Measured occlusal force corrections on implant prostheses improve their longevity, lessen material breakage, and minimize supportive tissue loss,
– Use of T-Scan data to install new restorations with precise occlusal force balance, with the total force summation centered within the middle of the arches
– Comparison of traditional and digital technologies to prevent and control destructive occlusal force complications in daily dental practice.
Excessive occlusal forces can lead to damaged teeth, fractured dental restorations, implant complications, and untoward patient responses following prosthetic treatment. Whether designing and building a prosthetic case with analog or digital methods, problems at insertion, and sometimes soon after the patient uses their new prosthesis, are quite common in daily dental practice. The implementation of relative occlusal force data and occlusal contact timing sequence durations, can aid a dentist in controlling excessive occlusal forces and time–premature contacts, that often create post-insertion occlusal complications. This presentation will illustrate how utilizing the T-Scan 10 technology can help a dentist successfully manage destructive occlusal forces that, wear and fracture teeth and implant dentistry, influence periodontal bone levels, and reduce unwanted post insertion patient occlusal adjustment visits.

Specialist in prosthodontics and pioneer in digital occlusal analysis technology. Owner and Prosthodontist at a private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts (since 1987), focused on comprehensive prosthodontic rehabilitation, implant prosthodontics, and temporomandibular disorder (TMD) treatment using computerized occlusal analysis. Former Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Department of Restorative Dentistry (1985-1998), teaching fixed and removable prosthodontics.
Over 42 years of clinical experience in prosthodontics with specialization in digital occlusion and TMD management. Global leading expert on the T-Scan Digital Occlusal Analysis System, conducting original research since 1990 on the role of occlusion and disclusion time in chronic myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome. Pioneer and academic advocate for digital measured occlusion, demonstrating that computerized occlusal analysis provides superior accuracy compared to traditional articulating paper methods. Developer of Immediate Complete Anterior Guidance Development (ICAGD) and Disclusion Time Reduction therapy protocols for TMD treatment.
Author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Journal of Craniomandibular and Sleep Practice, Quintessence International, Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry, Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. His research has been cited over 4,500 times, establishing him as the foremost authority on computerized occlusal analysis. Editor of nine research volumes documenting applications of T-Scan technology across all dental specialties. International lecturer presenting in over 40 countries on digital occlusion applications in prosthodontics, implant dentistry, orthodontics, TMD diagnosis and treatment, and esthetic dentistry. Consultant to Tekscan Inc., manufacturer of the T-Scan system.
