Más de 40 años de experiencia clínica y académica en ortodoncia contemporánea combinando biomecánica tradicional con flujos de trabajo digitales y sistemas de anclaje esquelético. Director del Programa de Máster en Ortodoncia en la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela desde 1996, formando especialistas de toda Europa y América Latina. Creador y desarrollador de la técnica ortodóncica Straight Wire Low Friction en colaboración con Rocky Mountain Orthodontics (Denver, CO). Director del Centro Internacional de Ortodoncia en Santiago de Compostela.
Conferenciante internacional impartiendo cursos sobre microimplantes, MARPE (expansión rápida del paladar asistida por microtornillos), alineadores y sistemas de tratamiento híbridos en Europa y América Latina. Asesor científico y clínico del Gobierno Español, Gobierno de Galicia, Consejo General de Dentistas de España y Fundación Dental Española. Miembro del comité editorial de cinco revistas internacionales dentales y ortodóncicas.
MD de la Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (1983). DDS (Estomatología) de la Universidad de Oviedo, España (1985). PhD en Medicina de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (1985). Máster en Ortodoncia de la Universidad de Valencia, España. Receptor de 12 premios y honores profesionales incluyendo Premio Rodríguez Abaitua de la Real Academia de Medicina de España y Premio de Investigación del Consejo General de Dentistas de España. Miembro de la European Orthodontic Society (EOS), Sociedad Española de Ortodoncia (SEDO), World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy, y miembro fundador de múltiples sociedades ortodóncicas españolas (ONO, AESOR). Autor o coautor de 14 libros de texto dentales y ortodóncicos, 110 artículos científicos y 145 presentaciones y pósteres en congresos.
