Pionero en desarrollo y aplicación clínica de microimplantes ortodóncicos (mini-tornillos) para anclaje esquelético. Uno de investigadores más citados en biomecánica de dispositivos de anclaje temporal (TAD) mundialmente.
Más de 27 años de experiencia clínica usando microimplantes para anclaje ortodóncico desde comenzar trabajo pionero en 1998. Experto en movimiento dental complejo usando anclaje esquelético incluyendo mecánica de intrusión, retracción en masa, verticalización de molares y corrección de maloclusiones severas sin cirugía ortognática. Investigación enfocada en optimización de diseño de microimplantes, biomecánica de movimiento dental impulsado por TAD y protocolos clínicos para mejorar tasas de éxito de microimplantes.
Titular de diez patentes relacionadas con tecnología de microimplantes y dispositivos ortodóncicos. Autor de más de 100 artículos revisados por pares publicados en principales revistas ortodóncicas internacionales con más de 9,700 citaciones, estableciéndolo como uno de investigadores más influyentes en biomecánica ortodóncica. Autor o coautor de seis libros de texto y ocho capítulos de libros sobre microimplantes ortodóncicos. Ponente principal en más de 80 reuniones ortodóncicas de renombre mundial globalmente. Proporcionó cursos de formación integral en microimplantes de 2-3 días internacionalmente más de 230 veces. Sirve como revisor editorial para American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO), Angle Orthodontist, European Journal of Orthodontics, Progress in Orthodontics, Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research, Journal of Orthodontics, Korean Journal of Orthodontics, y otras revistas.
