Más de 40 años de experiencia académica y clínica en ortodoncia desde unirse a facultad de Kyungpook National University. Se retiró en febrero 2022 después de distinguida carrera estableciendo Kyungpook National University como centro internacional de excelencia en investigación de microimplantes ortodóncicos y aplicación clínica. Pionero en desarrollo de dispositivos de anclaje temporal ortodóncico (TADs), habiendo colocado y estudiado miles de microimplantes desde principios de los años 1990. Desarrolló protocolos quirúrgicos, principios biomecánicos y aplicaciones clínicas para TADs que se convirtieron en estándar mundialmente.
