Descripción
Modern endodontic diagnosis relies on the ability to connect clinical findings with detailed imaging of complex root canal and periapical anatomy. This course with Professor Emeritus Paul Lambrechts explores the role of oral imaging in endodontic diagnosis and treatment, with a particular focus on CBCT and its application in challenging clinical situations.
The course combines the principles of endodontic imaging with a step-by-step analysis of six complex clinical cases, demonstrating how advanced imaging can support diagnosis, treatment planning, clinical decision-making, and follow-up.
During the course, you will learn about:
— The role of radiographic examination throughout endodontic treatment
— The limitations of periapical and panoramic radiography and the diagnostic value of CBCT
— Using CBCT to assess complex endodontic anatomy and pathology
— Six challenging endodontic cases, including C-shaped root canal systems, dens invaginatus, revascularisation, and gemination
— Multimodal imaging of calcified extraradicular deposits using CBCT and echographic imaging
— CBCT-based diagnosis, treatment, histopathological assessment, and follow-up of expanding odontogenic cysts
— The use of 3D printing and imaging-guided approaches in the management of complex endodontic cases.
Through these clinical cases, participants will develop a better understanding of how to integrate oral imaging with clinical findings when diagnosing and managing complex endodontic cases.
Lección 1.Six Endodontic Extremes: Step-by-Step Analysis of Clinical Cases from A to Z
— CBCT as a diagnostic tool for complex endodontic pathology
— Linking imaging findings with clinical and morphological complexity
— When and how to use CBCT for challenging endodontic cases
— Complex C-shaped root canal system: 3D printing, endodontic treatment, and CBCT follow-up
— Dens invaginatus: 3D-printed extraoral simulation, endodontic treatment, and CBCT follow-up
— Revascularisation: CBCT and histological confirmation
— Gemination: CBCT-guided separation and pulse oximetry follow-up
— Calcified extraradicular deposit: multimodal assessment using CBCT and echographic imaging with histological confirmation
— Expanding odontogenic cysts: differential diagnosis with keratocystic odontogenic tumor, CBCT-based treatment, histopathology, and follow-up.
Lección 2.Synergy Between Endodontics and Oral Imaging
— Role of radiographic examination throughout endodontic treatment
— Limitations of periapical and panoramic radiography due to their 2D nature
— CBCT as a diagnostic tool for complex endodontic pathology
— Linking imaging findings with clinical and morphological complexity
— When and how to use CBCT for challenging endodontic cases.
