Described as an educational entertainer, Prof. Samson completed pediatric dental residency at Emory University, 1979 and orthodontics at Northwestern University, 1981 under the direction of Dr. Hal Perry.
For 39 years, from 1981 - 2016 Gerry had an exclusive orthodontic practice in Atlanta, Georgia USA, is a Diplomat of The American Board of Orthodontics and Fellow of The American College of Dentists. was co-guest editor of Seminars in Orthodontics, March and June, 2014 “Age Appropriate Orthodontics”, co-author of Seminars in Orthodontics, and author of the orthodontics mechanics chapter in the 2016 reference text book by Wiley Publications, “Recognizing and Correcting Developing Malocclusions: A Problem-Oriented Approaches to Orthodontics” – Prof. Eustáquio A. Araújo, Prof. Peter H. Buschang. Dr. Samson was co-principal investigator in studying the Psychological Aspects of Orthodontic Patient Compliance, funded by The National Institute of Health- Division of Behavioral Medicine. Currently, Dr. Samson holds formal faculty appointments at 7 university postgraduate programs in the USA, lectures extensively, reviews articles submitted for publication to The American Journal of Orthodontics, The Angle Orthodontist and the newly formed AJO-DO Clinical Companion.
