Uno de los investigadores más citados y respetados de la función del TMJ y del área maxilofacial en el mundo. Ha publicado más de 240 publicaciones acerca la oclusión, los trastornos del TMJ y el dolor en la cavidad bucal en diferentes revistas nacionales e internacionales. Autor de dos manuales sobre los trastornos del TMJ y el dolor en la zona mandibular, que han sido traducidos en once idiomas. Conferencista invitado más de 1300 veces con acuaciones sobre el tema del TMJ y el dolor orofacial en todos los 50 estados (de EEUU) y 58 países del mundo. Recibió el premio «Dentista del año» de la Academia Internacional de Odontología. Es el mayor premio otorgado por la Academia, que se le ha entregado en reconocimiento de sus esfuerzos a nivel mundial por proporcionar la educación en los temas de las enfermedades del TMJ y el dolor orofacial.
